Third-country family members of EU citizens and the EU directive

Since Brexit, a Schengen visa might be required to travel to Belgium.

Third-country family members of EU citizens, when it has been ascertained that the visa applicant falls under theDirective 2004/38 EC, are allowed to lodge their application directly at the consulate without any costs. You should be aware however that the applicant must make an APPOINTMENT for any form of consular service.

The embassy only has a very small waiting room and is currently fully booked until the end of the year, it is pointless to request an appointment if your travel date is before that date. You should consider submitting your application at one of the TLScontact Visa Application Centres. To be directed to the TLScontact website to find out all the information you require about appointments, documents, processing time and general process, please click here

For security reasons you will not be able to access the Embassy without an appointment!

Contact the visa section using our dedicated e-mail address to make an appointment: London.Visa@diplobel.fed.be. You will need to include your full name, nationality and the proof that the visa application fall under the Directive 2004/38 EC (UK residence permit are not accepted as sufficient proof).

Where family members of EU citizens decide not to make use of their right to lodge their application directly at the consulate but to use the extra services of the TLScontact visa application center, they should pay for these services.
