UK tour of Belgian production Peter Pan, the Never Ending Story
Date:21 June 2013
(Contribution by Music Hall Belgium)
Four years ago, Geert Allaert, CEO of Music Hall Entertainment Group Belgium, decided to create the arena spectacular ‘Peter Pan, the Never Ending Story’. At that time, he had no idea that eventually he would be promoting this incredible live adventure across 15 major European cities.
“The making of this show turned into a fantastic adventure,” Geert Allaert says. “It is a privilege to be able to work with the world’s greatest talents like Luc Petit and Matt Dunkley. A lot of people have contributed to the achievement of my biggest pride and joy... the arena spectacular Peter Pan. I am tremendously grateful to each of them, and hope to bring this Belgian adventure to the furthest corners of the world”.
The Great Gatsby and Peter Pan, the Never Ending Story
Indeed, the film and the spectacle have something in common…or rather “someone”: the musical director Matt Dunkley. Born and raised in London, Matt is among the world’s leading orchestrators, arrangers and conductors. He has also developed a successful parallel career as a talented film and TV composer. He has worked on over 100 films, including box-office hits such as ‘Moulin Rouge’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 3’ and very recently ‘The Great Gatsby’.
Eurofoot 2000 and Disney Cinema Parade
For Luc Petit, director and concept designer of ‘Peter Pan the Arena Spectacular’, each new environment is a source of inspiration. For the past ten years, Franco Dragone, who enjoys worldwide recognition for his creative work (‘Cirque Du Soleil’ and ‘Céline Dion’s show in Las Vegas’), has called upon Luc Petit’s talent to design his shows. Petit created prestigious events such as the Disney Cinema Parade in Paris, the opening ceremony of Eurofoot 2000 in Brussels and the inauguration of the Crown Macau Hotel in China.
Beside Matt Dunkley, the production is starring two other UK artists. Lilly Jane Young is taking on the role of Peter Pan’s loving, devoted and caring friend Wendy… and Stacey Solomon is starring as the ever fiery yet exciting Tinker Bell. Britain’s X-Factor runner up and Queen of the Jungle makes her theatrical debut. To her, playing Tinker Bell is every girl’s dream. Lilly-Jane, on the other hand, is excited to take on the character of Wendy: “Playing the role of Wendy is really my childhood dream come true. I have the feeling that I was born to play this role: as a toddler I ran around with my grandfather and pretended that I could fly. I´m so happy to return to the magical world of Neverland, and hope to stimulate the imagination of a whole new generation.”
One day I’ll fly away!
There is no Peter Pan show without flying! Besides an amazingly creative team, skilled cast, colourful projections and scenery, ‘Peter Pan, the Never Ending Story’ shows off the advances of flying technology. In this production, the audience will witness the characters flying like never before in theatrical performances. 2D, 3D and flying without wires above a gigantic turbine form an important part of the show. You’ll be on the edge of your seat and maybe, who knows…one day you’ll fly away!
An entertaining evening with your family or business relations
All in all, the Belgian production “Peter Pan, the Never Ending Story” is an absolute ‘must’, an incredible and unforgettable adventure.
