Consular attestations in London

 

Available attestations


All certificates contain the following information: surname, first name, place and date of birth. The different attestations are:

Attestation of registration
This attestation mentions the date of your registration in the Consular register.

Attestation of nationality
This attestation indicates when and how you became a Belgian national.

Attestation of residence
This attestation mentions your current address.

Attestation of residence with history
This attestation lists your current and previous addresses.

Brexit linked certificate of residence
This attestation lists your current address and your previous addresses in the UK. It  comes in English and can only be used in the context of applying for settled or pre-settled status.

Attestation of family composition
List of all the people living at your address. Belgian nationals have to be registered with the Embassy and non-Belgian nationals need to provide us with a proof of address.

Attestation of possession of a Belgian passport, travel or identity document
Proof that you are in possession of a travel/identity document, number of the document, place and date of delivery.

Attestation of concordance of names
Please include evidence (for example foreign passport, birth certificate) which shows that your name according to Belgian law does (not)  match your name under foreign law.

Attestation of civil status
The attestation mentions your civil status and where relevant the date of modification/name of spouse/partner. The attestation cannot be issued for the purpose of contracting a marriage. For a marriage, see “extract of National Register”

Extract of National Register
This attestation mentions: your national register number, sex, current address, telephone number, nationality, parentage, civil status, passport and id-card details, family composition, your status as a voter in Belgium. This is the attestation you will receive in case of marriage.
 

Fees


The price of an attestation depends on the language it is issued in:

Dutch, French or German - £18

English - £54
(please note: Extracts from the Register cannot be issued in English)

It is not possible to combine several attestations into one. For example, if you need an attestation of residence and an attestation of nationality, we will issue two separate attestations. In that case, you will be charged double the price.
 

How to apply for an attestation?


We ask you to send a request by post to:

Please include following documents:

  • a dated and signed letter indicating the certificate you apply for, the reason for this request and your preferred language (French, Dutch or German). Exception: the brexit-linked certificate of residence only comes in English
  • a photocopy of your ID-card or passport
  • a stamped envelope addressed to yourself. The attestation will then be sent to you by post.
  • proof of payment (bank statement or proof from your bank) of £18 made to the account number here below with communication “ATT, NAME, first name, DOB DDMMYY”

    Example:

    Attention: please make a separate payment for each request, indicating the name of the person concerned. We cannot accept group payments for different members of the family or different services.
