If you have moved to the UK from Belgium, ensure that you have de-registered from your previous town hall in Belgium before sending us your registration documents – contact your previous municipal administration for more information on how to do this.
A separate procedure exists for registering a newborn child (or somebody who has never been registered with any Belgian authority before).
Which documents should each adult provide?
- A registration form, completed and signed: DUTCH / FRENCH
- A copy of your Belgian identity card (front and back) or passport
- A recent proof of address, no older than 3 months and in your name
- Proof of your right to remain in the UK
- Your voter registration form(s), completed and signed: DUTCH / FRENCH
Which documents should be provided for each child?
Which documents are accepted as a proof of address?
- Council tax or utility bill (not mobile phone bill)
- Bank statement (high street bank, not internet bank)
- British driving licence
- Letter from a British government department (e.g. HM Revenue & Customs, Department for Work and Pensions)
- Letter confirming registration with a GP/dentist or on the electoral roll of your local council in the UK
How can I prove my right to remain in the UK?
For those with (pre-)settled status, a UK visa or any other immigration status: generate a share code on the website of the British government. When prompted, select the option to prove your status “for anything else”. The share code you should send to us is a nine-digit alphanumeric code starting with S. We do not accept letters from the Home Office as proof.
For those who have British citizenship: send a copy of your British passport and, if you are not British from birth, a copy of your certificate of naturalisation.
Where do I send the registration documents?
You should send all the documents requested above to:
Embassy of Belgium (Population)
17 Grosvenor Crescent
LONDON
SW1X 7EE
